For the final interview of this mini series, I spoke to Emma Binois about her photography.
Hey! Tell us a little bit about yourself please, your name, where you live etc.
A: Hey, I am Emma, a Paris based literary student. I am actually seventeen. Art occupies an important space in my life as I am practising photography since my childhood and it is now my biggest passion. I am also in love with cinema, painting and music. Travel has always been my favourite activity as discovering new cultures, countries and people is essential to me. I do want to open my mind as far as possible.
How did you first get into art and photography?
A: My first step into art was with my godmother when I was seven years old. We have made every Parisian museum. I wanted to keep a memory if the work of art I was discovering so I asked my parents for a camera.
Where or who do you look to when you’re stuck in a creative rut?
A: As I have said before, music, cinema and painting are such a huge inspiration. For example, Flume will always inspire me. Likewise, Tarantino’s movies aesthetes and Picasso and Van Gogh paintings. My environment is my inspiration. People too. I’m trying new things with people I love.
For people who are unfamiliar with your work, what’s your favourite subject to photograph?
A: My photography mostly deals with portraits. My photographs are aimed at revealing their beauty. I am also keen on travel photography as cities are an eternal inspiration.
If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be and why?
A: Well, I’m not sure I can answer this question. I will say near the sea, with my best friends and family, listening to some good music.
