do what makes you happy.

Recently i opened an anonymous account and one of the first comments i received on it was along the lines of “just do what you want”. this kind of resonated inside me because it’s so so important to not feel pressured into doing something – or feel pressured not to do it. blogging is the perfect example.

no one i know in my life away from the screens is aware that i blog or have my instagram, and that is simply because at first, i thought i would be judged. now, i’m not so bothered about what other people may say to me, because writing makes me happy. saying that, i’ve grown to like the privacy of posting to people i don’t personally know – you get to know more people, and you just don’t feel pressured to write what you think people want to read. so for the time being, still nobody knows i run this blog, but when the time inevitably comes that someone finds out, i need to focus on letting their opinion wash over me.

quite frankly, you only get one chance in life so my mantra is just enjoy yourself. there’s no point worrying about what other people will think – they’re not living your life, so live it for yourself.

  1. I love this! I recently started a blog but had put it off for over two years because I was too nervous about what my friends and acquaintances would say about me. Then one day I realized I was letting other people’s opinions hold me back from doing what I love, and starting my blog was the best thing I’ve ever done!! Now I’m sad I waited so long. It’s very true that the most important thing in life is to do what makes you happy.
